Physical Properties: Usually appears as white crystals with a sour taste and pungent odor; stable in air. Relative density 3.95 (15°C), melting point (under pressure) 340–350°C, sublimation at 315°C under normal pressure; vapor appears yellow-green. Volatile and hygroscopic; readily soluble in water, ethanol, sulfuric acid, acetone, benzene, and acetic acid. Highly toxic with strong oxidizing and hygroscopic properties; dissolves in water to form selenous acid.
Applications: Mainly used as an additive for manganese electrolysis, trace element additive for beverages, and reagent; also serves as a blackening agent for steel materials. Used as an oxidizing agent or catalyst in organic synthesis, and in the preparation of selenium compounds and high-purity selenium.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse.
